Maggi Management - 1 (series of 2)

Hi Ppl..
A bit of Back Ground ...
Recent trends in knowledge industry are selecting bollywood, Hollywood and even Bhojpuri movies for management study. Lagaan, Chak-de etc are already in IIMs for study of team work and management. But the fact is, management is everywhere around us. You have to have an eye to look at it. For example, Exams in SBST are excellent management & team work model, involving preliminary survey of classroom for most feasible set up with Locational advantages, highly precise & timely communication, efficient document flow, and individual as well as team performance..!!

The Brand “Maggi” has recently completed its 20 years. In India, Maggi sales has grown to an estimated Rs 160-170 crore brand contributing as much as 8-9% to Nestle India’s top line. In words of Chairman & managing Director of Nestle India, Carlo Donati, “India has emerged as the largest consumer of Maggi noodles across all Nestle operations in the world”.(May 21, 2003, ET). It has become a synonym of “noodles” in India – just like Colgate is to toothpaste, or Gwaliya is to “butter-soaked masala dosa” at Manek chowk!!

So, that news in the news paper made me think and I tried to recollect the moments and incidents related to this word, - instant food they call it- “Maggi”.

There were times when “we” used to make Maggi every night before exams. It was for gud luck ..!! Sara shagun mate thodi to khaavi j pde. Jo koie exam ni aagli rate Maggi no “Prasad” na lidho hoi to ene chokkas suppli aave, athva to copy karta pakdai jay..!! We used to read together for exams..mostly at night(of course, I am talkin abt readin..). And during examinations, we used to worry more about “stock” of Maggi at meeting place, rather than “stock” of notes, or reading material or even “kaapli”z!! There were official “Maggi breaks” between the reading times.

Some conclusions I have tried to derive from my vast exposure & experience in this “field” of Maggi Management. The same with some detailed analysis will be published soon. The stuff will be beneficial to the ones who are going to give exams in near future, or who wants to perform well in SBST examinations, or even better, looking for a thesis topic with the word “Management” in the title. !! We Indians eat the most Maggi noodles in the world. No wonder,.. we have given lot many exams..!

Keep coming for more. Till then…give suggestions & feedbacks.
